THERAPY FOR DEPRESSION
What is Depression?
Depression takes the best parts of our life and puts them on hold. During a depressive episode you may feel intense despair, shame, or even physical pain which can lead you to question your ability to go on living. The debilitating nature of depression leaves you to suffer alone without a way to express your pain.
Depression manifests in an all-consuming way with impacts to your physical health, cognitive health, and emotional health. General health and hygiene can go ignored for days or weeks. Fatigue and patterns of excessive sleep are common. Your thinking may not feel as sharp and you may notice that you can’t remember things that once came so easy to you.

How do I know when to seek therapy for depression?
This chronic mood disorder will not resolve on its own. You may feel ashamed that you aren't able to just "get over it". This is what separates depression from sadness or grief. Sadness will typically resolve on its own with little impact to your overall well being. Grief can be a contributing factor to your depression - but it doesn't cause depression. Experiencing depression can be debilitating, leaving many people to suffer alone without a way to express their pain. This is why it is so crucial to seek therapy when you are navigating a depressive episode that includes even a few of the symptoms described above.
